ORANGE — The Orange High School football team’s perseverance paid off.
After losing their first four games by shutouts, the Tornadoes won their first game, defeating Lincoln (Jersey City) 34-0 on Monday, Sept. 28, at Bell Stadium in Orange.
Junior running back Donovan Stokely rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries and sophomore Samaj Patterson Williams ran for 127 yards on 14 carries.
Senior quarterback Malachi Brown threw a 10-yard TD pass to senior Rodney Marc. Lincoln fell to 0-4.
It was the first win for second-year head coach Akil Boucaud. The win snapped an 18-game losing streak that began in the 2024 season.
The game was moved from Saturday, Sept. 26, due to inclement weather.
The Tornadoes, who improved to 1-4, will host Weequahic on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. Weequahic is 3-1.
