BLOOMFIELD — The Bloomfield High School football team enjoyed another convincing victory.
The Bengals defeated Barringer 34-0 on a rainy Sept. 26 at Schools Stadium in Newark for thor second straight victory to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Junior running back Brandon Plummer rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries, and senior RB Aiden Ruiz ran for 113 yards and a TD on 15 carries. Senior RB Tayler Guerrero had 93 rushing yards and a TD on nine carries.
In the first quarter, Plummer scored on runs of 7 and 74 yards for a 14-0 lead.
In the second quarter, junior running back Michael Mickens had a 4-yard run and Guerrero ran for a 12-yard TD to give the Bengals a 27-0 halftime lead.
Ruiz had a 10-yard TD run in the third quarter to close out the scoring. Senior Adam Nammoura kicked four extra points.
Defensively, senior lineman Makai Douglas had nine tackles with two for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble. Senior lineman Mekhi Wilson had six tackles with two TFLs. Ruiz, as a linebacker, had six tackles with one TFL. Sophomore defensive back Jayson Anderson had a fumble recovery. Junior lineman Ethan Concepcion had four tackles and a sack. Senior linebacker Breakthrough Oneychere had three tackles and a sack.
In their previous game, the Bengals defeated Clifton 41-7 on Sept. 18 at Foley Field.
The Bengals will visit West Orange on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.
West Orange has won four straight games to move to 4-1.
