BLOOMFIELD — The Bloomfield High School boys soccer team is off to a strong start to the season with a 6-2 record through Sept. 21.
Junior Julian Oramas, senior Jake Buccieri and senior Jeffrey Solis each had a goal in the 3-1 win over Newark East Side on Monday, Sept. 14. Senior Julius Deputato had two assists.
The Bengals then lost at Nutley 4-2 on Thursday, Sept. 17, ending their three-game winning streak. Senior Sulayman Daoud and junior Aeden Vangheli each had a goal for the Bengals. Deputato and senior Luke Sochko each had an assist. Perez made three saves.
BHS defeated South Plainfield 4-1 on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Foley Field. Deputato scored two goals. Daoud had one goal and one assist. Junior Gavin Baker had one goal and Buccieri had two assists.
Deputato had a goal and two assists, and Daoud had one goal and one assist in the 5-0 win at Barringer on Sept. 21 in Newark. Buccieri, senior Diego Hernandez and senior Ryan Orlando each had a goal. Senior Tyler Brodbeck and sophomore Matteo Ochoa each had one assist.
Justin Perez made four saves and senior Eric Scibilia made two saves for the Bengals.
