Columbia HS fall teams’ seasons set to begin

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Columbia High School varsity fall teams will begin their seasons next week.

The football team has a new head coach in Gary Mobley, who previously was the head coach at Rahway HS where he led the team to a 77-44 mark in 11 seasons with nine state sectional playoff appearances.

The Cougars also are in the newly-formed North Jersey Super Football Conference this season. CHS went 5-5 last season, including qualifying for the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 5 playoffs where it lost to Westfield in the quarterfinals. The season opener is Sept. 9 against Bloomfield at Lynn V. Profeta Field/Underhill Sports Complex.
