BLOOMFIELD — The Bloomfield High School girls soccer team tied Newark Academy and defeated Science Park to move to a 3-0-1 record on the season for first-year head coach Joelle Bernhard.
Senior Sophie Ruiz scored on an assist from junior Hailey Pityinger for the Bengals in a 1-1 tie against Newark Academy at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Junior Amelia Martinez had five saves and senior Olivia Mosquera made three saves for the Bengals.
Senior Inez Brewster had two goals and one assist in the 7-0 home win over Science Park on Thursday, Sept. 10. Junior Lily Reilly, junior Sophia Orellano, sophomore Victoria Stec, junior Julia Miller and junior Samira Lee Sing each had a goal. Ruiz, junior Julia Gargiulo and junior Isabella Bernhard each had an assist. Mosquera made three saves.
