GLEN RIDGE —The Glen Ridge High School boys soccer team has enjoyed a 2-1 start to the season.
Senior Max Fleischer had two goals and two assists, senior Nate Huttons scored one goal and added an assist, and senior Ryan Law also had a goal in the 4-2 win over Livingston in the season opener on Tuesday, Sept. 1, in Livingston. Junior Robert Runnions had one assist and junior Andrew Baum made four saves.
The Ridgers dropped a tough 1-0 decision to perennial power Seton Hall Prep, of West Orange, on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Watsessing Park in Bloomfield. The lone goal was scored with 4:42 left in regulation. SHP is ranked No. 8 in the state by nj.com.
Glen Ridge bounced back with a 3-2 home win over Union City on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Fleischer and senior Charles Jordan each had a goal and an assist, senior Liam Silva scored a goal and Runnions tallied one assist. Baum made five saves.

Girls soccer team gives good effort
The Glen Ridge High School girls soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision at Caldwell in the season opener on Friday, Sept. 4.

- Tuesday, Sept. 15: West Essex, 4 p.m.
- Thursday, Sept. 17: at Nutley, 4 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 19: at St. Dominic, 1 p.m.
- Tuesday, Sept. 22: at Payne Tech, 4 p.m.
Football team looks to bounce back
The Glen Ridge High School football team will visit Cedar Grove Thursday, Sept.10, at 7 p.m. Cedar Grove is coming off a bye week. They defeated Gloucester 35-14 on Saturday, Aug. 29, to move to 1-0.
The Ridgers lost at Hoboken 34-0 on Friday, Sept. 3, to move to 1-1.
