IRVINGTON – The Irvington High School varsity football team lost to North Hunterdon, 35-21, in the season finale on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the IHS Sports Complex.

The Blue Knights, under head coach Pete Pascarella, finished with a 3-7 record, but were young this season, which bodes well for next season.

Leading the Blue Knights was junior Jyvon Brown, who has been the  starting quarterback since his freshman year.

Among some of the other key players were sophomore receiver Jasiah Provillon, junior receiver Karon Gray, sophomore receiver Alli Abbas, senior running back/linebacker Malik Hazel-Jackson, senior receiver/defensive back Rahim Hazel-Jackson, Malik’s twin brother; senior two-way lineman Dejah Grier, senior receiver/defensive back Muadh Abdis-Salaam; junior tight end/linebacker Tyhmir Lassister, sophomore defensive back Javis Hanks.

Walker leads DePaul football in playoff win

Irvington’s Kareem Walker rushed for two touchdowns to lead the DePaul Catholic High School varsity football team to a 40-13 win at Camden Catholic in the first round of the state Non-Public Group 3 playoffs on Friday, Nov. 13.

Walker, an All-American senior running back, scored on runs of 1 yard and 21 yards.

DePaul improved to a 4-6 record.

DePaul senior wide receiver Hasise Dubois is another player from Irvington. Dubois will play at the University of Virigina.

Walker recently decommitted from Ohio State University.

DePaul, seeded seventh, will visit third-seeded Delbarton in the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. in Morris Township.

Camden Catholic was the second seed.
