GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The Glen Ridge High School varsity fall teams will begin their seasons next week.
The football team is in the newly-formed North Jersey Super Football Conference. Last season, the Ridgers played in the North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 playoffs, losing to eventual champion Hoboken in the quarterfinals to finish with a 5-5 record after starting off 0-3.
The girls’ soccer team won the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 tournament title for the fourth consecutive season before losing to nemesis Shore Regional, 2-1, in double overtime in the state Group 1 championship game to finish with a 17-6-1 record. It marked the third time the teams met in the state Group 1 final. Glen Ridge won the 2012 final. The two teams played to a tie in the 2013 final and were declared co-champs.
The boys’ soccer team made a nice run in the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 tournament before losing to Brearley, 2-1, in the semifinals to finish 7-13-2. Brearley went on to win the sectional and state Group 1 titles.
