James Ely
IRVINGTON – James Ely finished fifth in the triple jump at 42 feet-1 1/2 inches and placed sixth in the pole vault at 9-0 to lead the Irvington High School boys’ track and field team at the Super Essex Conference-American Division Championships at Schools Stadium in Newark on May 14.
Ely’s top-six efforts were the only points scored by the Blue Knights in the meet as they finished in seventh among the seven teams.
The girls’ team didn’t score any points, but had good efforts. Mical Ceus took eight in both the high jump at 5-2 and triple jump at 28-0.
The Essex County Championships will be held at Woodman Field in Montclair, May 20 at 4 p.m. and continue May 21 at 10 a.m.
