WEST ORANGE —The West Orange High School football team posted its first win of the season in emphatic fashion.
Senior quarterback Daniel Lewis completed 10 of 18 passes for 217 yards and four TDs to lead the Mountaineers to a 48-0 win over Livingston on Friday, Sept. 4, at WOHS’ Joe Suriano Stadium.
Lewis threw two TDs passes to senior Nazir Doughty, who finished with five catches for 147 yards. Junior receiver Evian Mishoe and senior tight end Sydney Padilla, a Rutgers commit, also had TD catches.
Junior running back Tyreon Spruell had three carries for 55 yards and senior running back Tyler Laniyan had five catches for 26 yards and a TD.
Defensively, senior linebacker Dylan Adams had six tackles. Senior lineman Donovan LIvingston had two sacks. Senior defensive back Dante Palmer had an interception. Junior DB Kolbi Turner scored on a blocked punt recovery in the end zone. Padilla, an end, had four tackles and a sack.
The Mountaineers will visit Irvington (2-0) on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. West Orange head coach Darnell Grant is an Irvington graduate and former Irvington head coach. West Orange won last year’s meeting, 20-19.
