IRVINGTON, NJ — Municipal Council President Charnette Frederic and her Civic Association are joining forces with Thecy Faustin and FamiCare Inc. to host the annual Haitian Flag Day Celebration on Sunday, May 15, at 3 p.m. in front of the Municipal Building in Civic Square.

The event is free and open to the public, and will feature live performances by DJ Carlos.

“Our masters of ceremony will be Paul El Sadate and Judith Fenelus,” said Frederic on Saturday, May 7. “We’re going to have Haitian flag giveaways, free T-shirts and free food and drinks. First-come, first-served.”

This event is sponsored in conjunction with: Mayor Tony Vauss; the Irvington Police Department Superior Officers Association and Policemen’s Benevolent Association; MTS Towing Inc.; Investors Bank; Irvington Home Liquor Store; Fritaille Restaurant; Chez Dubois; Premiere Energy; Unbeatable Property; D’Lorice; CAM Prestige; Nursevue Careertek Training Institute; Realty Pro; Ring the Bell for the Community; the Haitian American Committee; and Arescue Staffing Agency.

“We’re going to have live performances by DJ Carlos and our masters of ceremony will be Paul El Sadate and Judith Fenelus,” said Frederic on Saturday, May 7. “We’re going to have Haitian flag giveaways, free T-shirts and free food and drinks. First-come, first-served.”

Faustin said Irvington’s Haitian Flag Day event would be the start of an exciting stretch of ethnic and cultural celebrations in town and other neighboring communities. She said Newark will mark Flag Day on Saturday, May 21, at noon, followed by the Nat Turner Festival at 5 p.m.

“Every year, the Frederic Civic Association and FamiCare Inc. put together the Haitian Flag Day Celebration to share our rich culture as we promote integration and involvement in the Township of Irvington,” said Frederic on Tuesday, May 10. “Please come out and support us. You will enjoy the live performances, great food, and free giveaways.”

For more information about the celebration, call 973-55-6180 or 973-372-2273.
