ROSELAND, NJ — Essex County 4-H members are gearing up for the annual 4-H fair, held in conjunction with the Essex County annual Fall Fest celebrations. Attend the event on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each year 4-H youth from across the county display their educational projects that are completed throughout the year. Fall divisions include indoor gardening, outdoor gardening, fruits and vegetables, and health and cooking. All projects are judged and awarded ribbons based on Danish system judging. In addition to the 4-H fair project showcase, families can come enjoy a variety of crafts, games and healthy snacks to celebrate the fall harvest. 4-H youth development programs have served the young people of Essex County for more than 90 years. 4-H’s mission is to use a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to become competent, caring and contributing citizens of the world. Programs are offered at minimal or no cost to children from kindergarten through one year out of high school, without regard to ethnicity, race, national origin, sex, religion or ability.
