MAPLEWOOD, NJ — As a result of a sewer construction project there will be temporary road closures and traffic detours at the intersections of Baker Street with Maplewood Avenue and with Dunnell Road from Sept. 6 through Sept. 9 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to a recent press release from the Maplewood Police Department. Police advise drivers to consider alternate routes and plan for possible delays.

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, Baker Street between Maplewood Avenue and Dunnell Road will have limited circulation for vehicles; it is likely that there will be a single lane open for car traffic during this time. As for pedestrian circulation, the sidewalks on both sides of Baker Street between Maplewood Avenue and Dunnell Road will remain open. The pedestrian walkway along the railroad tracks will be fully open.

On Sept. 6, there will be limited access to the Arturo’s/Village Coffee parking lot. The Baker Street entrance will be closed, but entry will remain open from Maplewood Avenue. Parking will remain available in the north portion of the lot, adjacent to the north side of the Village Coffee building. There will be limited parking available in the Village Coffee lot in the spots along the tracks; approximately half the parking spots in the portion of the lot closest to Baker Street will be unavailable.

On Wednesday through Friday, Sept. 7 through 9, just during the work hours, Baker Street between Maplewood Avenue and Dunnell Road will be entirely closed to vehicular traffic; the street will reopen after 3 p.m. and remain open until the next morning. As for pedestrian circulation, the sidewalks on both sides of Baker Street between Maplewood Avenue and Dunnell Road will remain open. The pedestrian walkway along the railroad tracks will be fully open.

On these dates, there will be limited access to the Arturo’s/Village Coffee parking lot. The Baker Street entrance will be closed, but entry will remain open from Maplewood Avenue. Parking will remain available in the north portion of the lot, adjacent to the north side of the Village Coffee building.
