so-shu-latino-institute-fundraiser-wSOUTH ORANGE, NJ — The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute invites you to its annual fundraiser gala, “Rumba 2016!,” to be held at the New York Athletic Club on Wednesday, Oct. 19. This year, distinguished honorees include New York Yankees legend Bernabe “Bernie” Williams; Lillian Rodriguez Lopez, vice president of sustainability and customer PAC support at The Coca-Cola Company; and Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation.

“Rumba 2016!” honors prominent Latino leaders who make a positive impact on society. Williams is honored with the Magno Award for his achievements on and off the baseball field, including his musical and humanitarian pursuits. Latina trailblazer Rodriguez Lopez receives the Excelencia Award for her enduring tenure with the Hispanic Federation and her advocacy work on behalf of Latino communities. Martinez is being honored with the Compromiso Award for his global philanthropic efforts at The UPS Foundation. The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute’s executive director, Denisse Oller, congratulates this year’s honorees for being Latino role models and for their continuous service to the Hispanic community.

“We are delighted to recognize these three visionaries as we celebrate one more year of accomplishments at the Joseph A. Unanue Institute,” Oller said in a press release.

To purchase tickets to the event, visit www.shu.edu/rumba2016. The New York Athletic Club is located at 180 Central Park South, New York.
