In Loving Memory of Barbara Farinella
Barbara Farinella, 88, passed away peacefully in her longtime home in Bloomfield on September 6th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved her deeply.
Barbara was the beloved wife of Joseph Farinella Jr. (Joey) for 67 years. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on September 27th. Their enduring love and devotion to one another were a beautiful testament to a lifetime shared together.
She was a devoted mother to Joseph Farinella III, who shares a loving relationship with Kim Lopez. Kim has been a special part of Barbara’s life for the past 10 years and became a cherished member of the family. During Barbara’s time at home, she was lovingly cared for by her son Joseph and Kim, with her devoted husband, Joey, always by her side.
Barbara was lovingly known as Nana to her grandchildren, Mario of Conshohocken, PA, and Gianna of Toms River, NJ. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Michael and Louis. She is survived by their mother, Lisa, who was a loving part of Barbara’s life for more than 20 years.
Barbara was a woman who found joy in the simple things in life. She was involved with the PTO, giving her time and support to her family and community. She loved keeping busy with crafts and puzzles, always enjoying the opportunity to create something or challenge herself. These hobbies reflected her creativity, patience, and love of spending time doing things she enjoyed.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving parents, Winifred (Brown) Marlow and Bertram Marlow of England; her brothers, Malcolm Bertram and Dennis Marlow; and her sisters, Shirley (Marlow) Young of Bloomfield, Beverly Marlow, and Linda (Marlow) Edwards of England.
She is survived by her sister Judy Marlow and her partner, Phil, of Ireland; her brother Bill Marlow and his wife, Shirley, of England where she was Born; and her brother Leslie Marlow and his wife, Jean, of France.
Barbara was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mario “Morris” Farinella of Bloomfield; Charlie Farinella of Delaware; Sammy and Mary Farinella; Frank and Josephine Farinella of Bloomfield; Tony and Marilyn Farinella of New Mexico; and James “Jimmy” Farinella and Ann of Florida.
She is survived by her cherished brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Delores Farinella of Bayville; Mickey and Yvonne Farinella of Kearny; JoAnn and Tony Damiano of Rahway; Rose Marie Farinella and Catherine Cokgun, both of Bloomfield; along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Barbara’s family was the center of her world. She treasured every moment spent with the people she loved and created countless memories that will remain in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
Some of Barbara’s happiest memories were made around the table and on family trips. She loved her Sunday breakfasts at the Nevada Diner with her family, especially enjoying the silver dollar pancakes. She looked forward to family trips to Atlantic City and always enjoyed stopping at Perry’s on the way home. She spent countless summers in Wildwood, where the entire family would fill up the hotel, creating the kind of joyful memories that would last a lifetime.
Some of her most special times were the many years spent vacationing with her in-laws at the Villa Roma Resort in the Poconos. She also treasured Sundays spent with her brothers and sisters-in-law, gathering around the table for Sunday dinners filled with good food, stories, and laughter. Those wonderful family gatherings often continued with card games and her favorite game, Rummikub, where friendly competition and laughter brought everyone even closer together.
Barbara will always be remembered for her love, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by the people she loved.
Though her passing leaves a profound sadness, Barbara’s love and spirit will live on through her husband, son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. The countless memories she helped create will continue to bring comfort, laughter, and love for generations to come.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
