BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) announced its major year-end award winners for the 2018 men’s and women’s track and field season, and for the second consecutive year, Bloomfield College’s Lisa Morgan-Richman was named CACC Men’s Coach of the Year. Freshmen, Daviegh Brooks (Trenton, NJ), Jahvar Edwards(Hamilton, NJ), Jasmine Staten (Mount Holly, NJ) and Jayda Osborne (Piscataway, NJ) all claimed Rookie of the Year awards in Monday’s announcements from Commissioner Dan Mara.

Morgan-Richman, an Orange resident and former head coach at Columbia High School, was named the 2018 CACC Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year after guiding the Bears to their first league championship in only the third season of the program. Lisa, who has won the coach of the year in two of her three years at the helm of Bloomfield’s young program, said, “It’s an honor to be recognized by the fellow coaches in the league for the hard work we put in that not everyone sees. I share this award with my coaching staff and our student athletes who show up and show out, day in and day out during practice and at the meets.”

Brooks was named the CACC Men’s Track Rookie of the Year after he posted a pair of wins at the CACC Championship. He won the 400 meters in a time of 48.94, while also being a member of the Bears victorious 4×400 relay team that posted a time of 3:19.70. Both times were new CACC Championship Meet records. Brooks holds the Bloomfield College school record in the 400 and 800 meters with respective times of 48.52 and 1.51.16.

Edwards was named the CACC Men’s Field Rookie of the Year after having a strong debut season at the collegiate level in the high jump. He won the event and set a new meet & school record at the CACC Championship with a leap of 6-9 ½ . Edwards placed 19th in the high jump at the Penn Relays in late April, while also placing fourth in the event at the All-American Invitational.

Staten was named the CACC Women’s Track Rookie of the Year after she posted four of wins at the CACC Championship. She won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.40, while also being victorious in the 200 meters with a mark of 25.53. Staten was also part of the Bears winning 4×100 relay team that posted a time of 48.09 and 4×400 relay team that finished in a time of 3:59.41. All of Jasmine’s times were CACC Championship Meet records and she holds the school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.18.

Osborne was named the CACC Women’s Field Rookie of the Year after having a solid showing in her inaugural performance at the CACC Championship. She turned in a pair of top-four finishes, including third in the pole vault (7-5 3/4) and fourth in the long jump (17-0 1/2). Osborne also has an amazing presence on the track and holds school records in the 100 & 200 meter dashes with times of 12.37 & 25.26 respectively.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
