WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School and Seton Hall Prep varsity wrestling teams will begin their seasons on Saturday, Dec. 17.
The WOHS Mountaineers will participate in the Dover tournament, while the SHP Pirates will compete at the Morris Knolls tournament.
The Pirates last season won the Essex County Tournament title. This season’s ECT will be held Jan. 19-20 at Codey Arena in West Orange.
This season, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association will have different teams at new District and Region tournaments, which lead to the NJSIAA individual tournament at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, March 3-5.
WOHS will compete in the new District 10 hosted by Nutley on Feb. 18. The other teams in that district are Delbarton, Becton, Verona, Union City, Orange, Columbia, East Side, and Wood-Ridge.
WOHS also will host the new Region 3 on Feb. 22, 24-25. For many years, WOHS hosted the old Region 4.
SHP will compete in the new District 13 hosted by Scotch Plains, Feb. 17-18. The other teams in that district are St. Peter’s Prep, Linden, Rahway, Elizabeth, Johnson, Summit, and Plainfield. The SHP qualifiers will compete at the new Region 4 hosted by Union, Feb. 22, 24-25. Union hosted the old Region 3 for many years.
