Livingston Summer Concert Series returns with a bang

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Regal Bank recently announced the schedule for the 2018 Livingston Summer Concert Series, its 10th year of free outdoor concerts in Livingston’s Memorial Field. The series features live musical performances every Sunday evening in July from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the field’s gazebo.

This year’s series features some of the region’s most popular party bands. Each week features a different genre of music, including doo-wop, big band arrangements, the music of the ’80s, and tributes to Chicago and Bruce Springsteen, all chosen to surprise and delight.

“The bands are carefully selected to appeal to all ages and to get the crowds dancing and enjoying Livingston’s gorgeous summer evenings. In fact, input from Livingston’s residents helps in choosing the bands that perform,” said Monte Ehrenkranz, Regal Bank’s vice president of business development.

The Livingston Summer Concert Series schedule is as follows:

  • July 1, The Cameos performing doo-wop;
  • July 8, Beginnings, the ultimate tribute to Chicago;
  • July 15, The Jazz Lobsters  with swinging big band sounds;
  • July 22, Route 80’s, a high-energy ’80s dance party; and
  • July 29, The B-Street Band, the original Bruce Springsteen tribute band.

Picnic food and lawn games add to the festivities. In the event of inclement weather, shows move to the auditorium at Livingston High School.

Also returning this year is the Summer Concert Series Photo Contest. To enter, attendees can post their concert photos on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #RegalBankConcert. Winners will be selected based on creativity, originality, aesthetics, engagement and theme. Weekly winners will be announced at the end of each performance and will receive a $50 gift card. At the end of the series, one grand-prize winner will receive a $100 gift card. Complete contest details and official rules can be found on the Regal Bank Facebook page.

“We are so grateful to our ongoing sponsor, Regal Bank, for seeing the value in community events like this one which not only make Livingston a better place to live for residents but help expose and promote our special town to a wider audience,” said Liliana Branquinho, special events supervisor for the township of Livingston.

The Livingston Summer Concert Series is organized by the township of Livingston. For more information, contact SYLS at 973-535-7925, ext. 260, or email lbranquinho@livingstonnj.org.
