TBA Mitzvah Morning

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Join the members of the Temple B’nai Abraham congregational family for “Mitzvah Morning” on Sunday, March 13 — sponsored by the Temple B’nai Abraham Social Action Committee with the Membership Committee, Men’s Club, Prime Time, Early School Parents’ Council and Religious School PTA — as they participate in a morning of activities for all ages and volunteerism to help those in need in neighboring communities. Come for the entire morning or for just for a portion. This effort is led by Social Action Chairwoman Lisa Reisboard with Tara Heyderman and Scott Wolfson, membership co-chairpersons.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., Temple B’nai Abraham Men’s Club will hold a Sunday morning minyan with Rabbi Clifford Kulwin at temple. Everyone is welcome. A light breakfast will follow from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a blood drive sponsored by Men’s Club in conjunction with Community Blood Services. Donors are required to bring photo or signed identification, weigh at least 110 pounds and eat a meal prior to donating. Blood donors over the age of 75 must present a doctor’s note stating they can give blood; donors ages 16 and 17 must present a parental consent form provided by Community Blood Services.

For questions regarding blood donation eligibility, call Community Blood Services at 201-444-3900. To make a direct appointment, call 201-251-3703.

To continue the Mitzvah Morning’s activities, from 10 a.m. to noon, participants will enjoy a group effort of many activities, including compiling and creating special toiletry packages, breakfast bags for neighbors in need through “Bridges,” creating birthday cards for birthday parties in Israel, collecting gently-used rubber-soled sneaker or tennis shoes for the “Dunk Your Kicks” for Beth Israel Hospital Pediatric Center for children battling cancer, and organizing comfort supply kits for St. Barnabas Medical Center’s Comfort 360 Project.

Donations of new or unopened travel-size soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes and lip balm will be accepted until March 10. Gently-used sneakers for the “Dunk Your Kicks” drive will be accepted until May 31. Donation boxes are in downstairs lobby of the Jewish Learning Program.

For more information, visit www.tbanj.org/get-involved/social-action/mitzvah-morning-2016. To RSVP or for information, contact the temple office at 973-994-2290.
