WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Adler Aphasia Center, a nonprofit organization based in Maywood and West Orange that offers post-rehabilitative therapeutic programming to address the long-term needs of people with aphasia and their families, will hold monthly caregiver support groups for those whose loved ones are affected by aphasia. Aphasia is a language disorder caused by a stroke or brain injury. The caregiver support group will begin Monday, Jan. 14, and will be facilitated by the center’s professional life coach, who will focus on mutual support and encouragement while building strategies to cope with the challenges of living with aphasia.
The group will meet twice a month, on the second and fourth Monday of each month, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Adler Aphasia Center at JCC MetroWest, 760 Northfield Ave. in West Orange. These caregiver support groups are free and caregivers and their loved ones do not need to be affiliated with the Adler Aphasia Center.
