BLOOMFIELD – The NCAA, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and the ESPN Family of Networks have announced that the Bloomfield College at Philadelphia University men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 30 will be broadcast live and throughout the world online on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app.

The women’s game will tip off the doubleheader at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 4 p.m. The DH will be held at the Gallagher Center on the PhilaU campus and will be the Division II Game of the Week on the network.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for both of our institutions,” said Bloomfield Director of Athletics Sheila Wooten. “To have the opportunity to showcase not only our programs, but the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, is something we are extremely excited about.”

ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The network is currently available to more than 99 million homes at no additional cost to fans that receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.

The network is also available at no cost to approximately 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.

Currently 9-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in CACC play, the women’s basketball team sits atop the CACC North Division through the Bears’ first 12 games of the season and is looking to capture the program’s second CACC Tournament title under third-year head coach David Caputo. Junior guard Tianna Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y.) leads the conference in points per game, (17.3), while the team is currently ranked in the top five in the nation in points allowed per game (54.3).

In third place in the North Division, the men’s team has posted a 3-2 conference mark, including victories in their last two conference contests over North Division rivals Dominican College and Felician University. Senior forward Claude Blue (Brooklyn, N.Y.) currently ranks third in the league in field goal percentage, shooting 60 percent from the field over the course of the season.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (N.Y.) College, Dominican (N.Y.) College, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Nyack College, Philadelphia University, Post University of Waterbury, University of the Sciences, and Wilmington University.

“Any time you can have your student-athletes be a part of something like this, it’s really special,” said Wooten. “It is something they will always remember, and something that I know we will be very proud to be a part of on Jan. 30.”
