East Orange Campus senior defensive lineman is a Wake Forest commit.
EAST ORANGE — The East Orange Campus High School football team has enjoyed a great run of success.
The Jaguars captured two New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association North Jersey, Section 1, Group 5 playoff championships in 2021 and 2024, including capping a perfect 13-0 season in 2021, when they won the North Region, Group 5 state title. They have won three state sectional titles, the first in 2007.
John Jacob enters his fifth year as the head coach. He was an assistant coach on the 2021 squad.
This year’s Jaguars boast talented players who can help the team make another serious run.
Leading the way is senior 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive lineman Esa Wittingburg, who committed to Division 1 Wake Forest University a few months ago.
Senior Zachary Concepcion (6-2, 175) is a returning starting quarterback who passed for more than 1,000 yards to lead the Jaguars to a 9-2 record last season. EOCHS fell to Passaic County Tech in the North 1, Group 5 semifinals.
Senior running back Jaleel Halsey is another returning player after rushing for more than 800 yards and 12 touchdowns. Senior Tarike Bryan-Maloney (5-10, 160) is also an experienced running back. The receiving corps consists of seniors Eric Wilkins (5-11, 150) and Kamari Anderson 6-0, 160), and juniors Je’zi Lewis (6-2, 175), Musa Wittingburg (6-1, 160) and Donavon Ottey-Campell (5-7, 145).
Seniors Joel Martnez (5-10, 195) and Abdur-Raman Ali (6-3, 220) are the tight ends.
The offensive linemen include seniors Malick Ndiaye (6-3, 230), Sadiq Dues (6-1, 225), Michael Davis (5-11, 300) and Zion Mosley (6-0, 250) and junior Jaylen Snipes (6-3, 275).
Joining Esa Wittingburg in the D-line rotation are Dues, Ali, Davis, Mosley and Ndiaye, as well as seniors Kadyn Jno-Charles (5-10, 175) and Kevene Harris (6-5, 300), a Don Bosco Prep transfer.
The linebackers are Bryan-Maloney (5-10, 160) and Martinez and junior Ryan Marshall (5-11, 200).
The secondary consists of Wilkins, senior Rashad Sercey and junior Esaaih Lawrence as the cornerbacks, and Lewis, Musa Wittingburg and senior Elijah Chance at the safety positions..
The sophomores who will contribute are WR-CB Taiquawan Boyd, OLB Najamir Banks and LB Marcus Hernandez.
EOCHS lost to Piscataway 26-20 at home to open the season.
