EAST ORANGE, NJ – The 12th-seeded East Orange Campus High School boys’ varsity basketball team lost at fifth-seeded West Orange, 64-58, in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on Feb. 10.

Supreme Cook had 17 points and nine rebounds and Dmitri Austin had 13 points for the Jaguars. Daveon Davis added seven points and five assists; Maliki Gayton posted six points and four rebounds and Nasir Owens scored six points. East Orange Campus moved to a 4-19 record.

In the ECT preliminary third round on Feb. 8, EOCHS defeated No. 21 seed Verona, 63-35. Davis had 18 points; Gayton had 12; Austin had nine and Cook added seven.

The Jaguars had to forfeit their first 15 games of the season, which included seven wins, due to using an ineligible player. Second-year head coach Joe Jordan was reportedly relieved of his duties. Chidi Iromuanya, a longtime assistant coach, was named the acting coach.

The Jaguars lost at Newark Central, 79-53, Feb. 6. Austin, Cook, and Gayton each had 10 points, and Davis scored nine points. Issiah Poole had seven points and Quadir Scott added five points.
