NUTLEY, NJ – Zoe Steck scored three goals to lead the fifth-seeded Nutley High School girls’ varsity soccer team to a 5-1 win over 12th-seeded Warren Hills in the first round of the state North Jersey Section 1, Group 3 tournament on Nov. 1 at Father Glotzbach field. Isabella Gonsiewski had two goals and two assists; Giulia Polewka had one goal; Jenny Callaghan had two assists and Darby Fischer added one assist. Jillian DeSantis made three saves.
The Raiders will visit fourth-seeded Roxbury in the quarterfinals on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. The winner will face the winner between top-seeded Northern Highlands and ninth-seeded Old Tappan in the semifinals on Nov. 8.
In the 2014 Section 2, Group 3 tournament championship game, Roxbury defeated Nutley, 5-0.
