NUTLEY – Danielle Pomponio went 1-for-2 with an RBI, but the Nutley High School varsity softball team lost to West Essex, 7-1, May 2, at Yantacaw Park in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game.
West Essex won both divisional meetings with Nutley, which had its nine-game winning streak snapped and moved to a 14-3 record. Nutley’s other loss was to Morris Knolls, 2-0.
Lauren Hogan, Sydney Kunz, Breanna DeMaio and Alanis Concepcion each had a hit for NHS.
The Raiders, seeded third, will host 14th-seeded Montlair Kimberley Academy in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on Friday, May 6, at 4 p.m.
