NUTLEY – The Nutley High School varsity wrestling team received the No. 1 seed in the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 tournament.
The Raiders, under first-year head coach Mike DiPiano, received a quarterfinal round bye and will host either fifth-seeded West Essex or f0urth-seeded Governor Livingston in the semifinals.
Passaic Valley is the No. 2 seed.
The Raiders boast an 11-5 record.
NHS defeated Passaic Valley, 39-37, in the season opener on Dec. 23 at Passaic Valley in Little Falls.
Last season, the Raiders lost to Voorhees, 34-32, in the North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 final.
