MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Triad Arts Ensemble will present a Canticles for Life AIDS Benefit Concert on Sunday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 767 Prospect St. in Maplewood.
The concert will feature Canticles Chairperson Ginny Johnston of Maplewood conducting the 27-voice Triad Vocal Ensemble. They will perform traditional anthems, pop arrangements and an inspiring new work, “More Love,” by N.J. composer Mark Miller. Also performing will be the Dan Crisci Jazz Trio. Crisci, a pianist and piano teacher in Maplewood, just released a new recording of original jazz compositions, titled “Home Again.” Panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display.
The concert will benefit New Jersey AIDS Services in Morristown; the NAMES Project of Northern NJ, which supports the AIDS Memorial Quilt; and the AIDS Resource Foundation for Children in Newark.
There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. This year marks the 21st year of Canticles concerts; since 1997, more than $142,000 has been raised.
