Max Darwin, aka the Amazing Max, will deliver a spellbinding performance at SOPAC on Feb. 10.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Parents seeking great entertainment for their children need only head to the South Orange Performing Arts Center for a wide array of performances. With seven performances upcoming in the 2018-19 season, there’s sure to be something for all ages to enjoy. New this season, select Sunday performances will give families greater flexibility in scheduling arts and culture experiences.

A special discount of 15 percent off regular prices is available when buying tickets for two or more performances by using the code “Kid15” during the checkout process.

  • On Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m., enjoy “Pinocchio.” The beloved story of a wooden boy is brought to life in an adventure full of magic and wonder. This show is sure to entertain the whole family — with no strings attached!
  • On Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m., explore “The Phantom Tollbooth.” Milo discovers the delights of friendship, curiosity and knowledge and finds out that with a little bit of courage, anything is possible in this stage adaptation of the fantasy adventure book.
  • On Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m., the Amazing Max will perform. Watch truly astounding things happen both on stage and in the audience in Max Darwin’s interactive magic show.
  • On Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m., experience “Beauty and the Beast,” a tale as old as time. This fairytale about an enchanted rose and a clock, candlestick and teapot who talk can only be the spellbinding “Beauty and the Beast.”
  • On Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m., enjoy “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and other Eric Carle favorites. This whimsical triple-bill includes the stories of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” “Little Cloud” and “The Mixed-Up Chameleon” told through the magic of music, black light and fanciful puppets.
  • On Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m., have fun with Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat.” From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met.
  • On Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m., don’t miss “The Jungle Book.” Join young Mowgli as he learns the laws of the jungle with the help of friends like the black panther, Bagheera, and Baloo the bear. Then, cheer him on as he faces his fear and foils his nemesis, the tiger, Shere Khan.

Kids ’N Family performance tickets can be purchased at https://www.sopacnow.org/category/allshows/kids_n_family/ or by calling the box office at 973-313-2787.
