WEST ORANGE, NJ — It was a balmy night Sept. 21 in Suriano Stadium as the West Orange High School Mountaineers defeated the Columbia Cougars 44-7 and the Class of 2019 Homecoming King and Queen were crowned.
The annual crowning of the Homecoming king and queen highlighted the halftime activities. In “one of the closest votes in the history of Homecoming,” according to Athletic Director Ron Bligh, Morgan Clark and Prince Jackson were named as queen and king. Cynthia Pena and Robert D’Aries received the honorary king and queen honors.
The queen’s court, comprising nominees and their escorts, was composed of Siddhi Modi with Nasir Foster; Brianna Griffin standing in for Selam Woldai with Philip Ojo; Morgan Clark with Michael Schweidel; and Gabby Florendo with Brandon Morrison. The king’s court, comprising nominees and their escorts, was composed of Ruben Centeno with Danielle Berger; Mike Petros with Emily Sarett; Justice Remar with Camila Artis; and Prince Jackson with Star Lawson.
“Congratulations to all the members of our Homecoming Court,” WOHS Principal Hayden Moore said. “These students represent some of the best and brightest students at West Orange High School. We are proud to have them represent our school and community.”
The Marching Mountaineers performed their routine “Into a New World,” bringing cheers from the crowd.
