IRVINGTON, NJ — Mayor Tony Vauss hosted the township’s first Business Summit on Friday, March 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 50 Union Ave. and, according to the mayor, it was an unqualified success. The summit was organized to provide participants information about township services and resources that can assist them in developing their businesses and enhancing their services to consumers in Irvington.
Vauss said the summit served as an educational workshop and “director’s roundtable,” providing “a unique opportunity for the business community to better understand how various municipal departments can work with them to enhance their businesses and the products or services they provide.”
“We actually called it our ‘Economic Business Summit,’ where we brought all of the stakeholders, including the Chamber of Commerce, in,” said Vauss on Monday, March 14. “We did workshops. We explained how government works and how to get your processes through a lot quicker. It was just a great event.”
Vauss thanked the owners of 50 Union Ave. for hosting the event and the Irvington business community, including the Chamber of Commerce, Springfield Avenue Business Improvement District, FirsTeam Management, Camptown Business Improvement District, for investing their time, energy, creativity and good will into Irvington.
“From the beginning of my term as mayor, it has been my goal to first make Irvington cleaner and safer so that people want to live, work and have their businesses in Irvington,” said Vauss. “I have been successful in delivering on the increased cleanliness and safety of the township, so now I am building upon that foundation and adding economic and business development to my focus. I am excited about my inaugural Business Summit and the partnerships that were strengthened and forged between government and businesses.’
