SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Congregation Beth El in South Orange has announced its worship and program schedule for the upcoming High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Rosh Hashanah worship, from Sept. 20 through 22, and Yom Kippur worship on Sept. 29 and 30, will be led by Olitzky and guest Cantor Galeet Dardashti, who returns to Beth El for her sixth High Holy Days services with the congregation.

Complimentary tickets for prospective members are available through the synagogue office, or by contacting membership@bethelnj.org.

Childcare is offered during all services for children from age 1 through first grade. Reservations are mandatory, and can be made by calling the Beth El office at 973-763-0111, or completing the form at bethelnj.org/form/childcare.

Beth El will offer children’s programs for all ages, including a toddler Mini-Minyan and a teen discussion group. Children from kindergarten to fifth grade of all abilities are invited to learn, pray, play and create together during a two-hour High Holy Days interactive youth program. Beth El teen volunteers will be paired with other children who might need friendly support. Special accommodations can be made for older participants and those who wish to participate in the teen program. To find out more about the program or discuss accommodation needs, contact Morah Rivka Nelson at rnelson@bethelnj.org.

Beth El will hold concurrent study sessions and social action projects from 10 to 11 a.m. and again from noon to 1 p.m. each day of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Study topics will include: “Sacrifices and Standing up to God,” “Our Refugee Experience” with recently resettled refugees in our community Balkis and Rahma Hussein, and “How to Say I’m Sorry,” taught by Rabbi Kerry Olitzky.

Social action projects will include packing backpacks for Backpack Pals, sorting school supplies for the Achieve Foundation, packing food for the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges, and baking apple and honey cake for the residents of senior housing.

The full schedule of all worship and activities is available on Beth El’s website, www.bethelnj.org, the congregation’s Facebook page at facebook.com/bethelnj and by calling the synagogue office at 973-763-0111. The synagogue is located at 222 Irvington Ave., South Orange.
