SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — On Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, Seton Hall University will host a peace conference examining the implications of the messages of peace delivered by the last three leaders of the Catholic Church, beginning with Pope Francis.

On Monday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m., the program begins with an opening address by Peter Cardinal Turkson, a Ghanaian cardinal who has played a leading role in spreading Pope Francis’ concern for justice, peace and human rights. The program is free and open to the public and takes place at Bethany Hall on the main Seton Hall University campus in South Orange.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the conference continues with a day-long exploration of the implications of Pope Francis’ teachings on peace, examining what it means to live and promoting nonviolence in the context of today’s cultural and social currents. Discussions will also be informed by the church’s teaching on aspects of social and cultural life including war, economics, education, inter-religious dialogues and health care. Veterans, families of veterans and members of parishes are warmly welcome. This event will take place in the main lounge of the University Center on Seton Hall’s South Orange campus.

Seton Hall’s campus is located at 400 South Orange Ave. in South Orange. This event is free and open to the public, but due to limited seating, registration is requested. Visit https://www.shu.edu/diplomacy/peacemaking-conference.cfm.
