WEST ORANGE, NJ — For the 2019-20 school year, the Och Scholars Academic Scholarship program at Golda Och Academy will offer six scholarships for newly-enrolled ninth-grade students for fall 2019 in the areas of writing, science and mathematics, and an additional six scholarships for newly-enrolled students in grades six through eight for science and mathematics.

Students who apply for the ninth-grade awards will be eligible to receive one of six, four-year partial scholarships. Middle school applicants will be eligible for one of six partial scholarships toward tuition for five to seven years, based on the applicant’s grade year. For both opportunities, first-place winners will receive a $15,000 scholarship per year; second-place winners will receive $10,000 per year; and third-place winners will receive $5,000 per year.

Interested applicants will complete the standard admissions process as well as an additional set of requirements, including an interview, assessment test and a letter of reference. Applicants should contact Micah Dov Gottlieb, director of admissions and enrollment management, at mgottlieb@goldaochacademy.org or at 973-602-3645. The deadline for completion of the ninth-grade scholarship applications is Tuesday, Jan. 15. Middle school applicants must complete all parts of the scholarship application process by Friday, Feb. 1.

“Attracting exceptional students to our school raises the bar for all and leads to a higher profile for Golda Och Academy,” GOA Head of School Adam Shapiro said. “This program is designed to attract new, high-achieving students. We believe that bringing in these students will help in our continued pursuit of academic excellence, specifically as it relates to achievement in math, science and writing. We strongly believe that this scholarship program supports the mission of our school as it relates to nurturing the unique potential of each student. Innovative Jewish thinkers begin their journey here, and we look forward to using this program to welcome new and talented students in the fall of 2019.”

These scholarships are only open to new students and are contingent upon continued enrolled at Golda Och Academy. The balance of fees over and above the scholarship award will be paid by the new students’ families. Any financial aid award will be considered in conjunction with the scholarship.
