BELLEVILLE – The Belleville High School boys’ varsity volleyball team, seeded fourth, lost to fifth-seeded Millburn, 25-19, 25-22, in the Essex County Tournament quarterfinals on April 27 at BHS.
Fidel Barazza had nine digs; Michael Feneque had seven assists and five digs; Alcides Dos Reis had six digs; and Bart Cagandahan and Marcus Kodare each had two digs for the Bucs.
The Bucs were the defending ECT champion.
The Bucs gave a good effort despite falling to undefeated Bloomfield in three sets in a Super Essex Conference-American Division match on April 28 at Bloomfield. The Bucs lost the first set, 25-11, but won the second set, 25-22. Bloomfield took the third and decisive set, 25-16, to remain unbeaten at 12-0. Barazza had 11 digs; Dos Reis had 11 kills; Feneque had 19 assists and Marquez had eight kills for the Bucs, who moved to a 5-11 record.
