WEST ORANGE — The Seton Hall Prep soccer team, under the direction of head coach Marty Berman, opened the 2026 season with a 3-1 victory over Nutley at Father Glotzbach Field in Nutley on Friday, Aug. 28.
Junior Finnigan Salamone opened the scoring for the Pirates when he stole a pass and scored from 25 yards out with 15:12 remaining in the first half.
In the second half, senior John Bigley scored off of a corner kick from Salamone to increase the Pirate lead to 2-0 just 1:10 into the half.
Senior Matthew Pasternak made it 3-0 on a penalty kick just 12:05 later. Nutley scored with 8:00 left on a penalty kick by Nathan Zerizghi to produce the final score.
SHP senior goalie Liam Collins had four saves.
Berman is in his 41st year as the Pirates head coach.
