West Orange United Soccer Club teams finish great season

WEST ORANGE – The West Orange United Soccer Club teams finished a great season.

On Sunday, June 5, the Sounders U10 boys traveled to Nutley and came away with a hard-fought 5-4 victory. While the game was played with periods of heavy downpours, the Sounders played tough and received goals by Mike Udodi (two), Hudson Stovall, Armani Dukes and Cameron Morgan.

The Sounders closed out the season this past Sunday, June 12, with a hard-fought battle against West Essex. The Sounders were down 2-1 at the half with their lone goal by Michael Udodi. In the second half, the Sounders took control with three goals coming from Cameron Morgan (two) and Yann Niamke to close out the win, 4-3. With the win, the Sounders ended the season at 6-4-0.

The Fury U12 girls defeated Dover, 6-0, June 5. Madison Oliver scored a hat trick with Caitlin Bridgers, Olivia Telemaque and Lizzie Fleming all recording the assists with some beautiful crosses to Oliver. Telemaque scored two goals, one on a precise pass from Tori Rideau Winds. Britney Fort Foskey also had a goal after dribbling around the outside of the box past three players to score as well. Winds and Nia Simpson held a tight defense to help Delia Wasky in goal to record the shutout. The Fury remained in first place with this win and have won their flight for the second season in a row.

This past Sunday, June 12, the Fury won their final game of the season, defeating Lincoln Park, 4-1. Caitlin Bridgers scored two goals and had an assist. Ximena Macavilca and Nia Simpson both scored, with Simpson taking the ball all the way from the back field. Britney Fort Foskey, Lizzie Fleming and Tori Rideau Winds all had several shots on goal. Olivia Telemaque, Esme Solis Maurer and Sesen Tewelde  put in a good effort. Anna Akerblom and Delia Wasky, along with Winds and Simpson, held a strong defensive line. Camille Ferrell was the keeper. The Fury have remained undefeated for two seasons and won their flight for the second season in a row under the leadership of Coach Jan Andras.
