EAST ORANGE, NJ — Amid the coronavirus pandemic and Gov. Phil Murphy’s March 17 “stay at home” executive order mandating the closure of non-essential operations, East Orange Mayor Ted Green, East Orange Council and East Orange Board of Water Commissioners have been working to provide consistent, reliable, high-quality water and sewerage services that meet the needs of their customers and constituents, while providing maximum safety for employees, according to a release from the municipality.

As a result, the East Orange Water Department will be temporarily closed to the public and the following actions have been implemented to ensure the health and safety of both customers and employees:

  • Until further notice, water service shutoffs are temporarily suspended and all payment terms will be handled on a case-by-case basis. All requests for deferred payment plans must be in writing. In addition, billing and/or water usage disputes must be promptly reported in writing. All requests and reports must be submitted to water@eastorange-nj.gov for consideration. Include property address, account number and specific details of your issue. EOWC will contact the complainant within three days after receiving the email.
  • Scheduled visits to private properties will be rescheduled for a later date to reduce the risk of coronavirus exposure.
  • No payments will be accepted in person. Online and telephone phone payment options are available by calling 973-266-8869 or visiting www.eowater.com.

If you have a water or sewer emergency, call 973-266-8869 and follow the prompts to be directed to an on-call operator.
