BELLEVILLE – Belleville High School will honor the late George Zanfini with a trophy case in the school lobby, adjacent to the gymnasium. The case will be unveiled on Friday, Dec. 18.
That day, the BHS girls’ varsity basketball will tip off its season at home against Montclair Kimberley Academy at 4 p.m.
Zanfini, the legendary BHS head baseball coach who died in August at the age of 72, was beloved by many people in the community. He also was a teacher in the school district.
Zanfini, a 1961 Belleville High graduate, was the coach of the Bucs from 1975 to 1982 and in 1987, leading the Bucs to their only Greater Newark Tournament title in 1981.
