Mountain Top League offers soccer programs

WEST ORANGE – The Mountain Top League offers Little Kickers Program and 3v3 Training Program.

The spring Little Kickers Program is open to West Orange residents with children currently over the age of 4 and in Pre-K or Kindergarten. The soccer program will run with teams and parent volunteers as coaches.

Little Kickers will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays and will be played at Lower Redwood School from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The season will run for 10 weeks starting on the weekend of April 9-10 and end the weekend of June 18-19. No sessions will take place the Memorial Day weekend of May 28-29.

Volunteer coaches are permitted to request one player besides their own child. Besides siblings, the league is unable to honor specific requests for teammates or coaches in the Little Kickers program.

For Little Kickers, each child will receive a team jersey, shorts, shin guards, and socks. Each child is required to come each week with their own No. 3 soccer ball, and they must wear at least sneakers. Soccer cleats are not required for Little Kickers, but they are recommended.

A registration fee is charged and there are no refunds. This fee is good through March 7. A late registration fee will be charged from March 7-15.

Space is limited for the Little Kickers program, and registration will close once all available spots are filled. Registration closes on March 15. No registrations will be accepted after March 15. For those who miss registration, each child can still participate in the 3v3 program.

The MTL will host its co-ed 3v3 Training Program on Saturdays and Sundays. The 3v3 program will be a 60-minute training session. Players will spend the first 20 minutes with trainers working on individual ball skills and then divided into smaller groups to play small-sided games  – three players versus three players – for the remaining 40 minutes.

The 3v3 Training Program will be held at Edison Middle School. The season will run for 10 weeks starting on the weekend of April 9-10 and end the weekend of June 18-19. No sessions will take place the Memorial Day weekend of May 28-29.

There will be two sessions offered depending on age:

Session 1: 9 a.m.- 10 a.m. for players born in 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Session 2: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. for players born in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

A registration fee is charged and there are no refunds. This fee is good through April 7.

For the 3v3 Training Program each child will receive a training jersey, shorts, and socks. Each child is required to come each week with their own No. 3 or No. 4 soccer ball and must wear shin guards and cleats.
