WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange PAL Mustangs are looking forward to an exciting 2016 season. The program has more than 120 players and 75 cheerleaders this season from ages 8-14. They will compete at three levels (10U, 12U, 14U) in the unlimited weight Hudson County Youth Football League.

It takes a lot of dedication and commitment from players, parents and coaches to get ready for the football season. The team began practice Aug. 1 and you can find them working hard every weeknight from 6-8 p.m. at West Orange High School throughout the month.

The Middleweights (12U) went 10-0 in dominating fashion last season to take the league championship and are excited to try to match that success this year.  The coaches are excited for the opportunity to develop many new players coming into the program. Several of the Championship 12U team have moved up to the Heavyweight level (14U), and they also are looking forward to keep the success going on the field. Twenty-one of the team’s 40 players have been playing together since they began in the PAL program at the ages of 8 and 9. They have built a great chemistry over the past six years and look to put one more great Mustang season together before they move on to high school. The lightweights (10U) are also looking strong with almost 40 new Mustangs. It will be fun to watch them compete in their first season of football as they learn the game and start building a new bond together.

The Cheer program is excited to have many new cheerleaders this year. The girls provide support at the three levels of football.  They have been practicing hard since Aug. 8 at the PAL field. Expect to hear many of the familiar cheers used by the WOHS Cheer team. Look for an exciting halftime show from the 14U squad!

The Mustangs will be bringing a total team effort when they open the season Sept. 11 at WOHS against Hackensack. Game times are 12:30, 2 and 3:30. Come support one of the most exciting programs in town!

The W.O. PAL Golf Outing has become a classic town gathering for all. This year it will be held Monday, Aug.  29, at Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park. For more information and to donate please go to www.wopal.org or call 973-736-3595.
