Briana Lee looks to shoot in a game for METS Charter.

IRVINGTON, NJ – Briana Lee, a recent transfer from METS Charter in Jersey City, had a quadruple-double with 30 points, 16 steals, 12 rebounds and 10 assists and senior guard Tiara Mahorn had a strong game with 28 points, 10 assists and five steals to lead the Irvington High School girls’ varsity basketball team to an 86-16 win over Barringer on Jan. 17 in a Super Essex Conference-Freedom Division game.

Lee, a senior guard, posted the program’s first quadruple-double in more than 35 years.

Junior center Aniyah Massey posted 10 points and 14 rebounds; Shaquana Lyle had six points, five rebounds and three steals; junior guard Celine Ceasar had six points; and freshman forward Samaia Dixon, senior forward Herbina Exume and sophomore guard Rayonnah Freeman each had two points. Exume also had eight rebounds.

The win was the Blue Knights’ third in a row and improved their record to 6-3 overall and 5-0 in the SEC-Freedom Division.

Lee started the season playing for METS Charter. In six games, she scored a total of 170 points for an average of 28.33 points per game, including three games of 30 or more points and one 29-point performance.

Lee joined the Blue Knights to start the the new year. In her first game for the Blue Knights, she scored 18 points with 10 rebounds, three steals and two assists in the 64-49 loss to Mount St. Dominic on Jan. 6 at the Ray Long Classic at Felician College in Lodi. Lee did into play in the next two games and returned to action against Barringer. She is ranked No. 3 in the state in scoring average at 27.2 and 17th in rebounding at 12.6 rebounds per game.

IHS first-year head coach Noel Segarra said Lee has court awareness and is great ball-handler, strong rebounder, elite passer and a team player. Even with all of her  accomplishments, she remains humble, added Segarra.

Lee and Mahorn “could be one of the best duos in the state, in my eyes,” Segarra said.
