IRVINGTON – Rhoda Agyemang had 14 points; Jessica Washington had 10 points; Atonie Johnson had seven and Jakiyah Martin and Jasmine Williams each had four to lead Irvington High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 39-38 win at Newark Collegiate on Feb. 1. The Blue Knights outscored Newark Collegiate, 13-6, in the fourth quarter for their third straight win to improve to a 6-6 record.
IHS received the No. 18 seed in the 42nd Essex County Tournament and will host No. 27 seed Newark Central in the first preliminary round on or by Feb. 6. The winner will advance to the second preliminary round on or by Feb. 11 against the winner between No. 15 Mount Saint Dominic and No. 30 Newark Collegiate.
